 Sharon L. Larkin is a tax attorney here at Talley & Company. She is an active member of the California State Bar and the Orange County Bar Association in addition to the Washington D.C. Bar. As an important part of the legal staff, she is responsible for legal research on an array of subjects as well as consulting with firm clients on a variety of tax and legal matters, including estate planning, wills and trusts. Before joining the firm, she spent over three years with the international legal and accounting firm Deloitte Tax, LLP, where she put her expertise to work as an international tax and global transfer pricing consultant. Prior to that, she spent a summer interning at the firm Baker & McKenzie in Paris, France.
Sharon attended the University of San Diego where she earned her Juris Doctorate and her LL.M. in taxation. Prior to that, she attended Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she earned her B.A. in history. In addition to her career in tax law, she also spent 10 years as an independent computer consultant and 20 years in the banking industry. She joined Talley in July of 2007 and enjoys the congeniality of the staff and the opportunity for breadth of knowledge in a small firm atmosphere.
Outgoing and eager to learn, Sharon describes herself as flexible, curious and adventurous. When not working, she enjoys a variety of hobbies including ballroom dance, exercise, studying French, reading and caring for her plants. In addition to her many pastimes, she also finds time for volunteer charity work. As a member of the Assistance League since 1992, she serves on the board of directors of the Irvine Chapter and spends time volunteering in the organization’s charity thrift shop, which raises money to provide clothing for needy children. When asked to name her favorite travel destination, Sharon replies “any place I haven’t been before.” Illustrative of her love of travel and adventure, she has lived for short periods in several parts of Europe, including London, Barcelona and Paris.
If not working at Talley & Company, Sharon says that she might be living in a small village in Europe, teaching English in a foreign country, working at Barnes & Noble, or be a dog trainer. She has two grown sons and a black lab named Max, whom she describes as her “baby.”
